The Northeast Cover Crop Council (NECCC) is seeking sponsorship for the 6th annual NECCC Annual Conference in Portland, Maine. The Northeast Cover Crops Council (NECCC) was established in 2016. The Council was formed by farmers, NGOs, agricultural industry representatives, federal agencies, and Universities throughout the Northeast with a mission to support the adoption and successful implementation of cover crops to enhance economic, environmental, and social benefits through the exchange of information and science-based solutions.

We hosted our first annual conference in November of 2017 at Cornell University and the USDA-NRCS Big Flats Plant Material Center. The event was attended by about 175 people representing farmers, researchers, college students, agricultural professionals, and industry. Since that time, the conference and Council have grown, weathered a pandemic, and are now ready to bring the cover crop community back together for our sixth annual conference.

This year’s conference will be held in Portland, ME on February 16 and 17, 2023. Since the inception of the NECCC we have sought to include a variety of stakeholders in our efforts to promote sustainable agriculture in the Northeast. The agricultural industry plays an important role in supporting the NECCC mission by including associates who share knowledge, participate in events, and serve in the governing structure of our organization. The keynote speaker at this year’s event is Dr. Adam Davis from the University of Illinois. He will present work on building climate resilience through cover crops. He has a practical approach focused on field working days and practical measures of field soil conditions. We are planning to attract more farmers at this year’s event by inviting several farmer speakers, dedicating a track to vegetable production systems, and offering a pre-conference track specifically for potato producers.
